Nikwax Tech Wash

Nikwax Tech Wash is the preferred detergent for breathable waders, rain jackets and fleece layers. Moreover, it cleans effectively without leaving hydrophilic residues that cause fabrics to “wet out”. Therefore, it helps restore comfort by keeping the outer fabric shedding water and your garment breathing properly.

Why Tech Wash

Conventional detergents can compromise Durable Water Repellency (DWR), reducing breathability by up to 70% when the face fabric absorbs water. Tech Wash removes dirt and detergent residues and revitalises DWR, so your kit stays drier for longer in damp conditions—ideal as a first step before any re-proofing treatment.

HOW TO USE

Prep: Spot-clean stubborn marks with undiluted Tech Wash using a sponge or soft nylon brush. Remove non-washable parts. Shake well. Do not use standard detergents or fabric softeners.

Top-Loading Machine

1. Load up to 6 garments.
2. After the tub fills, add 150 ml for 1–3 garments or 250 ml for 4–6 garments. Add an extra 50 ml in hard-water areas.
3. Select Delicate cycle, Warm wash. Use low water level for 1–3 items; medium for 4–6.

Front-Loading Machine

1. Remove all detergent from the dispenser.
2. Load a maximum of 2 garments.
3. Add 100 ml of Tech Wash (+50 ml for hard water).
4. Set to Synthetics / Delicate, Warm (≈30 °C).

Tip: If the garment is older or heavily used, clean with Tech Wash first, then apply a dedicated re-proofer to fully restore DWR.
